Jaipur or also known as the pink city is famous for the pink walls and the architecture and the history and culture. But we fell in love with Jaipur because of the food first.
Almost everywhere we ate on our first trip as grown ups, turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. And so began our food journey in Jaipur. We have been back a couple of times after that, all thanks to living in Delhi. And each time we go, we try out a few new places, and go back to some oldies but goodies.
So, allow us to take you to the best spots to eat in Jaipur:
1. Laxmi Mishthan Bhandar:
Or popularly known as LMB is on everyone’s list of best places to eat at in Jaipur.And rightly so. It was established in 1954 and is located in the famous Johari Bazaar. It is known for aloo tikki, kachoris and especially Ghevar, which is a traditional Indian sweet made during the monsoon months.
2. Kishan Lal Govind Narian Agrawal:
Jaipur and Rajasthan in general is famous for Lassis. But this one os especially famous. It was established back in 1944 and is a favourite. It is located on MI road and is a must try. Be sure to go early in the mornings though, because Lassi is a breakfast item and they sell out by afternoon.
3. Gulab Ji Chaiwala:
If you love Masala chai, and you should, then head over to Gulab Ji chaiwala. Situated opposite to Ganpati plaza, this place is famous for their masala chai and Bun samosa. Yes you read that right. Bun samosa is a speciality here. Again, make sure you go before the evenings because they close at 6 PM.
4. Sanjay Omelette:
This place is famous for their omelettes. You might think why is a humble omelette place so special? Well, they serve more than 20 types of omelettes and it is run by a Masterchef India contestant. And that’s why the hype. The omelette does it justice though. Do try their omelette pizza or obama omelette.
5. Rawat Mishthan Bhandar:
Okay a little confession, we are a bit obsessed with kachoris. And especially when it is about pyaaz kachoris. We have a Bikaner Mishthan Bhandar in our home town, which is ridiculosuly famous for pyaaz kachoris. And the pyaaz kachoris from Rawat Mishthan Bhandar are at par and of course a must try. They make for a perfect snack in the evenings in between your shopping trips.
6. Chawla’s and Nand’s:
Chawla’s and Nand’s are two shops that serve amazing pani puris. And who doesn’t love pani puris? They are both competitors and both serve amazing pani puris and are favourites among the locals. Choose from a variety of spicy, sweet and tangy chutneys to go with these. Our favourite is always the tangy and the spicy mix.
7. Masala Chowk:
Okay if you are craving for a variety of street food in Jaipur and do not know where to go, head over to Masala chowk. This is an open food court in Ram Niwas garden and has a variety of stalls where you can find everything you want to eat from pani puri, kachori to pav Bhaaji & Dal baati choorma.
8.falahaar:
Located in Saraogi mansion, Falahaar offers a range of falahaari delicacies like Sabudaana khichdi, fruit cream, Sabudaana vada etc. Their Makhannia Lassi and Gajar halwa are a must try.
9. Kulfi Falooda At Indian Kulfi shop no 28:
Kulfi falooda at Indian kulfi Falooda and ice cream shop no 28 in Bapu bazaar is famous for their kulfi faloodas. And it goes without saying that you can’t miss this on your next trip to Jaipur. They also serve really good lassis and rabri. And if you want to try something different then do try Rabri gola.
10. Fast food at Aunty’s Cafe:
Aunty’s cafe is a small roadside cafe which is quite popular for its fast food and they serve a variety of fast food ranging from masala dosas to burgers. It s perfect for a quick snack.
11. Gyan Vihar Dairy:
Gyan vihar dairy is a famous spot among students and Jaipurites. They serve some amazing shakes and coffees. The next time you are there try their signature cold coffee. To go with it, you could try their patties or grilled cheese sandwich, perfect for a mid day snack.
12. Indian Coffee house:
This is not a very rajasthani experience and is not something peculiar to Jaipur. But if you get the chance, there is nothing quite like having a plate of idlis and sipping fresh filter coffee at the Indian Coffee House.
Apart from these famous shops, let’s talk about some of the foods that you must try at any local authentic restaurants. Here is everything you need to eat in Jaipur:
- Dal Baati churma: Dal baati churma is as authentic as it gets. And you can find various restaurants that serve this traditional rajasthani meal. It is a perfect combo of lentil curry aka dal, and baati and the sweet churma goes really well with it.
Lassi: No matter where you try this, you can not miss Lassi while in Rajasthan. It is such a filling summer drink and goes perfectly well post any meal or in between meals.
Kachori: Pyaaz kachori or daal kachori whatever is your preference, kachoris are a must have while in Rajasthan. Served hot with a variety of green and tangy imli chutneys, they make a perfect evening snack. And paired with Tea, it is a match made in heaven.

Tikkad: We have only tried tikkad at a road side temporary kind of a restaurant. And we forget the name of it. But I am sure you can find tikkad at a number of restaurants as well. With these things though, the road side restaurants make the more authentic and more tasty versions. It is a multigrain roti stuffed with potatoes, onions and a couple of spices. Usually has with a garlic chutney and a tall glass of buttermilk, this is the food of gods.
Pyaaz ki sabzi: The Rajasthani version of pyaaz ki sabzi takes the humble onion and elevates it. Creamy rich spicy curry is perfect accompaniment to any meal.

Kadhi: How can you go to Rajasthan and not try their Kadhi. this tangy, spicy yogurt based chickpea flour curry makes for a perfect lunch when served with rice.
Sev Sabzi: Rajasthan is known for Farsaan. Farsaan is basically a mix of different types of namkeen made of puffed rice, chickpea flour, lentils etc. It is sweet, spicy and tangy. When in Rajasthan, try out the famous sev ki sabzi.
If you are looking for perfect ambience and food, we highly recommend Tapri Tea house and Cafe Palladio.While Tapri is famous for the vibe, it is a perfect place to hangout. They also serve maggi and tea, need I say more. Cafe Palladio is more of a Insta worthy cafe, their Italian food is a must try, along with tiramisu.
