What is a Landing page you ask?
I am glad you asked.
Landing page is the page where a reader “lands” when they click a link on social media. Do you remember when facebook launched and you wanted to make a facebook account. You typed facebook (probably in google search bar back then) and then clicked on facebook.com and a page opened which asked you to log-in or sign-up.
Well, that’s essentially what a landing page is.
Businesses use landing pages all the time and have been using it for years. It is however relatively new in the blogging industry. The main purpose of landing pages is to get more email subscribers. These landing pages are so important of you want to convert your readers in subscribers.
Who needs a Landing page?
Okay we am going to be honest with you. If you do not want to create a mailing list or you never want to sell a product to your readers, EVER, you do not need a landing page.
That’s it. We have said it.
But if you want to grow a mailing list, turn your readers in subscribers and potentially pitch a product and earn from product sales, the you absolutely need a landing page.
But before we get started, let us be very clear, Making landing pages is a lot of work. And it will take you a lot of trial and error to make a page that you like. But you will get there. Promise.
Okay so let’s see how landing pages work:
- You reach a landing page on a blog where you subscribe to the mail id to get a freebie or you register for a webinar.
- You get a Welcome mail from the blogger
- You get emails from the blogger about personal stories to build a relationship and trust
- They pitch you a product or a course.
That’s usually how it goes. But see how it all started with a beautiful landing page that made the reader want to subscribe or register.
Okay, so you are convinced that you need a landing page but how do you do it?
There are various tools and there are even paid services for landing pages, but we highly recommend that you make one yourself. It is really easy and we will walk you through it. Okay? okay.
How to make Landing Pages?
There is a really easy way to make one. We use ELEMENTOR, which is a free WordPress plug-in. Here is how to do it:
Go to plug-ins in WordPress and select Add new. The go in the search bar and search for Elementor. Select Install and once installed, go to the list of installed plug-ins and activate it from there.
In case you are wondering what other plug-ins we use, here is our list.
After installing, you will see the option “Edit with Elementor” in the pages. Select Add new page.
Make sure to select Elementor canvas from the right hand side under page attributes.
And once you start edit with elementor, you will be taken to a page that looks like the one below. It has a menu on left hand side from where you can drag and drop items to make your landing page.
However, if you click on the folder next to drag widget here option, you will see a library of pre designed templates for pages. These include both free and premium pages.
We recommend you start will a free one, even though there aren’t a lot of option. If you feel comfortable with the plug-ins and want to design your page how you want it, then there is always the drag and drop option.
If you have decided to DIY it then here is the part where you have fun. Try different elements ad see what you like and what you don’t experiment with different fonts and colors.
Again, once you get the hang of it, it is fairly simple. The whole idea is to design an aesthetically pleasing page with a call to action that makes the readers want to subscribe.
Do you need Elementor Pro?
We recommend that you stick to the free version for initial few months. However if you are a small business owner and the sole purpose is to drive customers through the landing pages, then by all means invest in the pro version. But if you are a new blogger, you can probably avoid the extra cost.
We know how quickly these costs add up and if you are still not making any money from your blog, it seems like a waste of money.
There you have it, a rather simple guide that makes making beautiful landing pages easy. However, if you want highly responsive beautiful landing pages, you can always purchase them from sites like bluechic. Like we said, making landing pages is a lot of work.
But we hope we amde things clear and a little easy for you. And like always, if you have any questions, let us know in the comments below and we will make sure to answer.
