Having a strong brand on social media is such a big plus these days. And with businesses going online these days, building a strong online presence is crucial. And ask anyone, the number one thing for having a strong online presence on social media or a presence online, having high quality content is the key.
But there are times when you run out of ideas. And finding these content ideas is a task in itself. And one thing that we highly recommend to everyone to keep posting consistent content is to have a list of ideas.
Now, How do you make that list. There are a couple of ways where you can find content inspiration and ideas on what content should you create next.
1. FROM YOUR OWN CONTENT:
You want to be creating content that your readers or your audience wants to see more of.
- Now one simple way to know that is, by simply asking them. Go on an IG live or stories and take a poll from your audience. Ask them what they want to see from you.
- Another way to know that is to check your analytics. See what kind of content performs well with your audience and then think of what more content can you make in that similar category. Of course you don’t have to limit yourself to that category, but it is always a good idea to see what your audience wants to see.
- Check your comments and listen to your readers/audience. People often leave comments on Ig or youtube and blogs to ask questions. See if there is some question that feels like it would be a great fit for your entire audience, then make it into a blogpost. And if people keep asking you editing tips on IG, maybe you should consider doing an IGTV or a detailed blogpost, or even sell your presets!
2. From your competitors:
See what others in the same niche as you are creating. Do they have a blogpost that you can put your own spin on? Now, I would never suggest you write a blogpost just for the sake of it. Always try and see if you can add more value to a particular topic.
Of course the idea doesn’t have to be exact and in most cases, it shouldn’t. But looking at your competitors social media or the content is a great place to look for ideas.
3. From Pinterest:
I love Pinterest. don’t you? There are so many ideas on pinterest and I love using Pinterest to find content inspiration. You can find the keywords related to one category and then plan your content around those keywords.
When you search something in Pinterest, it suggests the most searched keywords in the suggested text. That is a great place to start. You can also find these keywords right at the top of search results. Like when you search for blog in the Pinterest Search bar, the keywords are suggested right at the bottom. So the best content ideas are : How to start a blog for beginners or blog post ideas for beginners or how to start a lifestyle blog and so on. These keywords indicate the most searched topics on Pinterest and it makes sense to write a post around that.
4.Think about what makes sense from a reader’s POV:
So I have written a blogpost on “How to start a blog”, now I am looking for content ideas for my next blog post. Now I need to think about the reader’s point of view. What would they want to read next. So if someone has started a blog, their next concern could be “what plug-ins are must?” or “How to grow traffic?”. So it makes sense for me to write these blog-posts.
And one great thing about looking for new ideas like this is that it creates a flow. A flow of posts that your readers can go through. And it is great for traffic as well.
Also see that naturally flows. like if you have a youtube video on a topic, can you make a detailed blogpost about it? Or if you have a recipe video on youtube, does it make sense to have the recipe with measurements on the blog?
Now that you have all these content ideas, make them into a list and save in a Bullet journal that you can refer to when you run out of ideas. I also love categorising them as I write them in my bullet journal, so I know what topics can I write about from a given category. It works smoothly. Let me know how you find content inspiration ideas?
