Is it just me who planned to be their fittest in the quarantine but feel like they did not get enough done? I have just been having the weirdest relationship with workouts over the last couple of months. There are days when I workout religiously and then there are days when I skip workouts day after day.
And I think I don’t need to mention that not being consistent with my workouts has not been the best for my health. But in spite of being really inconsistent with the workouts, there are some habits that have helped me be more healthy than ever. Don’t get me wrong, working out is IMPORTANT, but here are 6 habits other than working out that will help you be more fit and healthy.
6 habits of women who are always fit:
There are some habits that women who are always fit have in common. Let’s take a look at what these habits are and let’s see which of these habits can we start adopting today.
#1: Don’t skip breakfast:

I can not stress this enough. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I think it’s super important to have a delicious, nutrition packed breakfast. I am one of those people who can not workout after eating something. So I always workout on an empty stomach and then have my breakfast right after.
If you are okay with eating before your workouts, the by all means go ahead and eat something nutritious like a banana or a smoothie before your workout.
It is advised that you breakfast should be rich in proteins, healthy carbs and fats and a good amount of fibre. I always used to complain about being too busy to cook in the mornings, but here are 5 super simple and easy to make breakfast ideas that are perfect for quick and healthy breakfast.
#2: Eat fresh home made food:

If there is anything as important as not skipping breakfast, it is having healthy home cooked meals. Girls who stay fit make sure to have fresh home made foods rather than fast food or pre packaged foods.
And cooking is not that difficult really. You just need to learn to cook a few basics and you can build your meals from there. And there are so many youtube videos out there that show you exactly what you need to do. And believe me, once you get into the habit of cooking, you will find there is nothing more rewarding that a hot home cooked, healthy and nutritious meal.
And what’s even great is that when you are making the meals yourself, you know exactly what is going into those meals. This will also help you in being more intentional about what you eat.
Also, by having healthy home cooked meals you will also be able to avoid all the preservatives that are present in packaged food items.
#3: Avoid snacking on junk:

This is perhaps the most important thing that all fit girls keep in mind. They rarely snack on junk food. While snacking it is so easy to let yourself go and not count the calories.
That’s why it is even more important that you cultivate the habit of eating healthy food items for snacks. Another thing that you must keep in mind is portion control while snacking. It is so easy to finish an entire bag of chips while watching tv, that’s why it is important that you keep the portions in control.
The best option is to snack on healthy foods such as veggies, fruits, protein bars etc and avoid processed and pre packaged food altogether. My go-to healthy snack is protein bars or veggie sticks with home-made hummus.
#4: drink enough water

Drinking enough water is that one habit that all fit girls have in common. It is so important to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Keeping your body hydrated ensures that you do not feel lethargic through the day and that you don’t reach for sugary snacks for an energy high.
Drinking enough water also keeps your metabolism in check and aids in fat loss.
I find it best to keep a water bottle with me at all times through the day. If you struggle with drinking enough water, it’s probably best to set reminders at intervals.
I once did a “Drinking a gallon on water a day for a month” challenge. And it was such a great challenge because it forced me to drink more water and I got to see the results first hand. I lost about 5 kgs in that one month, just by drinking more water.
If it helps, try taking on the challenge for a week or so and you will eventually get into a habit of drinking more water throughout the day.
#5: Get enough sleep & avoid stress

This is probably the most under-rated tip when it comes to health and fitness. A lot of people believe workout and eating right is everything. but the fact is, that getting enough sleep is crucial for your body to recover and rebuild muscular tissues that get torn during workouts.
Getting enough sleep and avoiding stress are therefore crucial when it comes to your health and wellness. It is not the time you sleep for that matters, the quality of your sleep matters too. If you struggle with falling asleep at night, here is everything you can do to improve your sleep quality.
#6: NO LIquid calories:

Do not forget about the liquid calories. So many people make this mistake while making a diet plan and then forget to count for liquid calories that they consume. As far as possible avoid having any fizzy drinks with meals or in between meals. I prefer having a glass of water with my meals instead.
Another thing that often gets neglected is the alcoholic drinks. Of course having a drink or two over the weekend is totally okay but avoid sugary cocktails as much as possible. And while we are on this topic already, avoid junk snacks with the drinks. Of course it’d be even better if you could avoid the alcoholic drinks altogether.
There you have it. 6 super easy to adopt habits that all fit girls have in common. Which ones do you already practice and what are you starting from today? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂
